Church of St Mary, Chadwell, Scalford - Melton

Parish church of C12 origin with C13 additions. Repaired C17 and restored 1865-6 by R W Johnson. St Marys has a long history of structural movement. A number of structural ties are evident to the tower and there is extensive cracking to the chancel. Chancel cracks widened during 2018. It is thought that a lack of below ground drainage, clay subsoil and the long dry summer of 2018 are contributing factors but investigations are required.
