Church of St Peter, Church Lane, West Huntspill - Sedgemoor
Large parish church, with chancel, nave, quire aisles and nave aisles, two-storeyed south porch and western tower. Largely C14, lias with Ham stone dressings. The church was gutted by fire in 1878 and restored in neo-Gothic style. The aisle roofs leak and are patched with sealant and flashband as they are too fragile for more reliable repairs. Lias stone has problems, notably the north parapet, north aisle vice turret and the tower which is now roped off for safety. The congregation is putting together a bid to the National Lottery Heritage Fund for the tower and interior improvements.
