Church of St Peter and St Paul, Church Street, Carbrooke - Breckland

Late C13 and C15, on site of Knights Hospitallers settlement. Flint with ashlar quoins. Early C15 tower of four stages with diagonal buttresses. C13 chancel and C15 hammerbeam roof to nave. Cracking at high level on tower and flints being lost from parapet. Rusting iron cramps forcing stones apart and exacerbating flint losses at parapet level and probably elsewhere. Belfry and silence chamber floors may require extensive repair or replacement. Dampness internally, especially on south wall, due to failing and inadequate rainwater gutters and rainwater disposal arrangements.
