Church of St Michael, Main Street, Blackawton - South Hams

Parish church. C14 chancel and possibly tower; nave and aisle rebuilt c later C15 or early C16. Restored in 1887, 1893, 1895 and 1898. Local shale rubble with granite and some red sandstone dressings slate roof. The church is generally well-maintained and the roofs are all in good condition. However the tower masonry is damp and friable. Steeplejacks have undertaken emergency tower repairs but it still needs further work.
