Church of St Denis, Church Lane, Eaton - Melton

Ironstone church, C13 west tower with short, recessed, ironstone spire. The weathering of the tower ironstone, particularly to the buttresses and at high level is of concern. On the north side the tracery to the belfry opening has eroded completely to one side requiring the central mullion to be restrained as a matter of urgency. The jamb stones to all four belfry openings require some replacement with the north side being the worst. Elsewhere, the stonework has been adversely affected in a number of locations by historic, cement-based, pointing.
