Mentmore Towers, Mentmore / Tring Rural / Cheddington - Aylesbury Vale / Dacorum

Sir Joseph Paxton designed this largest of the Rothschild family houses in a prominent position in the Vale of Aylesbury, with formal gardens and park to complement it and a contemporary Arts and Crafts estate village at the main entrance. Sold in 2000, permission was sought to convert the house into a hotel and conference centre. With the estate now fragmented into various ownerships and new development proposals being broached Aylesbury Vale and Historic England have commssioned a Landscape & Conservation Area Appraisal to further define and assess heritage significance and inform decisions.
