Helland Bridge, St. Mabyn / Helland - Cornwall (UA)

This well-preserved medieval bridge carries a C-class road over the River Camel, between the A30 and B3266 roads. Because it provides a handy short-cut the road (and the bridge) is used by a very high volume of traffic from locals to commercial and tourist traffic. As a result, there are many traffic incidents on the narrow bridge. To date there have been no major incidents but the risk of this is high until measures are taken to protect the structure by suitable signage or other means. Other issues include vegetation growth and a lateral crack in the tarmac at the centre of the bridge.
