Coalhouse Fort, Tilbury - Thurrock (UA)

Ruined C19 armoured casemate fort on site of earlier battery; refortified for both World Wars. Severe water ingress to casemates; barrack blocks in severe disrepair. The generator house has now been repaired and converted to a café. Repairs of the gatehouse barrack block completed in 2011 with Historic England Repair Grants for Heritage at Risk.
