Bastle, 100 metres south west of Ray Cottages, Kirkwhelpington - Northumberland (UA)

Ruined medieval defended farmhouse, situated in the grounds of Ray Castle, with 1.4 metres thick stone walls standing to a maximum height of 2.2 metres. Recent clearance of mature vegetation has reduced the risk of disturbance, although some areas of loose, displaced or unstable stones remain. Discussions are underway to help establish a planned maintenance and repair regime for the site.
