The collection consists of an album of photographs, engravings and sketches showing Carlton Hall (now East Carlton Hall), a country house; St. Peter's Church, East Carlton; and other buildings and landscape on the Carlton Park estate. There is also a packet containing loose prints, engravings and a watercolour depicting the house and park.
East Carlton Hall was originally built between 1777-1781 by John Johnson for the Palmer family and later rebuilt in the French style and refaced in brick by E F Law of Northampton from c1870. The collection contains large format photographs of the house before and after its reconstruction and is supplemented by engravings and small format photographs.
There are also photographs of portrait paintings, (presumably at one time on display in the house), estate buildings and views across the park.
The collection was purchased by the NMR in 2004.
