Description

Aerial Photography of the South West of England, including Cornwall, Devon, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and North Wiltshire. The Cornwall and Devon photography was part-funded by PopperFotos to help undertake an archaeological assessment of the counties. Wingham's other flying was self-funded and reflects his archaeological and social interests.

Archival History

Harold Wingham was in the RAF and after the war was encouraged by OGS Crawford to undertake aerial reconnaissance for archaeological purposes. He acquired a camera and film stock from the RAF and started flying in 1951. He continued flying until 1963, when he was involved in an aircrash which killed his pilot.
