Photographs cover ecclesiastical: medieval churches and details, particularly furniture, altars, screens, reredos, organ cases and memorials. National scope. Collection includes 10 measured drawings consisting of several, colour wash, plans and elevations of churches in Cheshire. The measured drawings include 4 pencil drawings of church lecterns.

Archival History

Received Via : Yvonne Howard (F E Howard's widow) donated 2503 negatives in 1945 and drawings in 1960. Possible that some material was also transferred via Council for the Care of Churches Provenance : Church architect and scholar (1888 - 1934) specialising in refurbishment of medieval churches and designs for Neo-Gothic church fittings and fixtures. Negatives and sketch books are illustrative of the above themes. 10 measured drawings removed from the M H Ridgway collection by Ian Leith, 2002.
