Basil Oliver (1882-1948) studied at the Department of Architecture, Liverpool University, from (1900-1902) and was articled by Edward Warren (1902-1904). He achieved ARIBA status in 1910 and set up his own practice in the same year. His practice was primarily concerned with domestic buildings which are well represented in the measured drawings donated to the NMR prior to this small collection. He wrote 'Old Houses and Village Buildings in East Anglia' (1912) and 'Cottages of England' (1929). Oliver's work is identified by a distinctive cartouche, usually at the bottom right hand corner containing the initials BO and the date.
Over 40 further drawiings were donated to the NMR in 1948. These have been integrated into the NMR's Measured Drawings Collection.
