A collection containing nearly 3500 photographic negatives taken by Mrs Margaret Tomlinson for the National Buildings Record and a small additional number taken for the Victoria County History. In 1941 she was commissioned by the National Buildings Record to photograph historic buildings threatened by air raids during World War II. Her remit focused mainly in the south west of England, notably Exeter. Her work includes several views of historic buildings before and after bomb damage. She was also a registered architect - her work included 'Maycoes' in Branscombe, built for her aunt Mary Chick.
