Description

The original seaward half of the pier was demolished in the early 1980s after a series of fires destroyed pavilions and other structures at the south-west end of the pier. The remains of the pier's landing jetty, originally at the far end of the full Victorian pier, can be seen in other photographs in this set and indicates the full length of the original pier.
