The building dates from the 16th century and is considered to be one of the finest town houses of the period in the country. It was at one time the Old Coach Office. One of the major coaching houses, The Swan is visible to the right. Number 9 High Street is also known as Golden Key House and the Nodding Gables. When this photograph was taken it was in use as Milner's ironmongers shop. It is Grade II* Listed.
