A fine medieval wall painting depicting Christ in Majesty, dating to about 1150 AD, situated above the chancel arch in the Parish Church of St John the Baptist, Clayton. Christ is portrayed in the central mandorla, surrounded by Apostles and angels.

Description

The Church of St John the Baptist at Clayton largely dates from before the Norman Conquest in 1066, with the chancel added in the thirteenth century and the north aisle added in the fifteenth century.
