Description

Dorothy "Dolly" Pentreath is believed to have been the last known native speaker of the Cornish language. She was born in 1692 in Mousehole and died in 1777 in Paul. The monument commemorating her was erected in 1860, supposedly on the site of her grave. In 1887 the monument was moved to the previously unmarked site of her grave.
