Description

The foundations of Salisbury Cathedral were laid in 1220, and the building was completed in 1266. Later additions included the Chapter House and chapels. The tower was enlarged, including the addition of the spire, in the early- to mid-14th century. At 404 feet tall, spire became the tallest church spire in the United Kingdom following the collapse of the spire at Lincoln Cathedral in 1549.
