Description

Abbey Lawn Cottages were built as a speculative development for the Abbey in the 15th or early 16th century. The terrace originally ran from no. 34 to no. 51 Church Street, though only 34-48 survive as a terrace. The terrace was renovated from 1967 and is an important surviving example of a medieval terrace. No. 49 Church Street, known as Abbeyfield, has an early 19th century front though the fabric of the building may date from an earlier time. Abbey Lawn Cottages are Grade I Listed; Abbeyfield is Grade II Listed.
