Description

The 'City of Exeter Lunatic Asylum', or 'Exeter Lunatic Asylum', opened in 1886. In the 1920s it was renamed 'Exeter City Mental Hospital', before becoming Digby Hospital in 1948. From the 1970s the hospital was known as Exe Vale Hospital (Digby Branch). It closed in 1986.
