The monument was originally erected in 1614 on Market Hill, and was moved to its current position on the corner of Trumpington Road and Lensfield Road in 1856. This illustration appears on page 141 of ‘The Cambridge, Ely and King’s Lynn Road: The Great Fenland Highway’, by C G Harper.
