Description

The Royalty and Empire Exhibition ran from 1983 to 1997. It was created by British Railways and Madame Tussauds after the station was restored in 1982. The exhibition featured wax models and an audio-visual show depicting Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897. The full-size replica of the steam locomotive The Queen was built at Carnforth in 1982. After the exhibition ended, the locomotive was incorporated into the station as a feature.
