Description
The photograph shows item RK17 A00210 Pillar dollar, 4 reals. These coins were minted in Mexico (the M on the coin indicates the country the coin was minted). This coin was a worldwide currency that was traded in every continent, except Antarctica. The pillar dollar got its name based on the two pillars on each side of the two globes, one globe representing the Old World and one representing the New World. Only a few of these 4 reals pillar dollars were found on the site of the Rooswijk.
