The photograph shows item RK17 A01131 Pillar dollar, 8 reals and minted in Mexico. At the top there is a small hole. This hole was probably made to sew the coin into the clothes of a crew member to smuggle the money to the Dutch East Indies and to keep them safely hidden from other crew members. Several coins with these small holes were found on the site of the Rooswijk.
