The station was opened circa July 1884, and is on the Sevenoaks, Maidstone and Tunbridge Branch line. It has a two storey section in the east with a gabled cross wing. In the centre is a single storey section, most likely the ticket office, with a wooden canopy to the entrance front and platform front, and is flanked on the west side by a single storey gabled cross wing. Further west is a small attached shed.
