In 1864 the Great Western Railway, at the time using broad gauge track constructed the Clifton Maybank spur and a goods station south of the London and South Western Railway's Yeovil Junction Station for the transhipment of goods on to their standard gauge network. The building shown no longer survives but part of the dismantled Clifton Maybank spur line is now used by the Yeovil Railway Centre based at Yeovil Junction.
