Built in 1892 by Sir James Inglis to replace the original built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel in 1848 when the line was converted from broad to standard gauge track. The piers of the earlier structure are visible in places beyond the arches of the replacement. A housing estate now occupies the open fields shown in this view.
