Description

'The Family of Man' series was one of Barbara Hepworth's last works, originally created in 1970 and cast in 1972, the group of nine bronzes represent a stage of human life. Parent I, Ancestor I and Ancestor II were installed at Snape Maltings in 1976 for the Aldeburgh Festival. Yorkshire Sculpture Park has copies of all nine sculptures and casts of Parent I, Parent II and Young Girl are on display at the Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield.
