Description

The Leighton Buzzard Narrow Gauge or Light Railway was built in 1919 to transport sand from the quarries to the north to the sidings on the Leighton Buzzard - Dunstable branch line at Billington Road. By the mid 1960s only a single quarry still used the railway for freight and in 1965 the Dunstable branch line was closed and in 1968 the line was taken over by volunteers and run as a heritage railway.
