Dinting Railway Centre was established in 1968 using an existing Victorian engine shed at the site, in 1973 a new engine shed was built using a steel frame purchased from RAF Handforth to house a growing collection of locomotives under cover. Dinting Railway Centre closed in 1990 with much of the collection relocated to Ingrow, the sidings were taken up and the new engine shed and ancillary buildings were demolished. The derelict Victorian engine shed is all that remains on the now wooded site.
