TA 09 SW SCALBY SCALBY ROAD (east side) Newby, Barn approximately 3 5/47 metres to north of Newby Farmhouse (formerly listed 25.4.75 as Barn to north of Newby - Farmhouse including walls to road enclosing Quoit ground GV and Pound) II 16H75 Barn. Date stone to rear I E. Probably raised and extended to north, in C18. Coursed rubble sandstone. Pantile roof. One and a half storeys, 4-bays. 3 pitching windows to front. Rear: 2 boarded doors alternate with 2 fixed-light windows with 2 pitching windows above. To left, an upper plank door is approached by a rebuilt external staircase.

Stone lintels throughout. Coped gable walls with moulded kneelers. The front wall of this barn forms one side of the Newby Pinfold (qv) and the Quoits Ground (qv).
