BRAMFORD MILL LANE TM 1246 9/77 Set of 3 gatepiers to - entrance of driveway of Millbank G.V. II Gateway, c.1754. A pair of heavy square gatepiers about 2.5m high. They retain the hinges only from a pair of carriage gates, formerly guarding the mouth of the driveway to Millbank. Orange brick, now painted. Moulded scone copings; the cast iron ball finials are a C19/C20 addition. A further similar but smaller gatepier lacks a finial; a pedestrian gate formerly hung from it.
The deeds of Millbank are believed to indicate that the house was built in 1754 (although altered in C19), and the style of the gatepiers conforms to such a date.
