MIDDLETON ROCHDALE CANAL SD 80 NE 2/21 Lock No. 58 and - adjoining bridge - II Lock and bridge. Between 1794 and 1804. William Jessop engineer. Hammer-dressed stone. Lock has double-upper gates the lower gates having been removed. Minor C19 repairs to walls. The segmental-arched bridge at the lower end of the lock has a band and triangular-topped coping stones. Square terminating piers to west of walls but sweeping down to ground level at the east.
