PANTON STREET TQ 2980 SE 1900-0/71/10047 Clareville House II Office building, including 25-27 (odd) Oxenden Street and 45-47 (odd) Whitcomb Street, formerly known as Stones Chop House. 1959. Sir Albert Richardson. Portland stone and yellow brick. Timber windows. 9 bays to Panton Street with returns to right and left. 5 storeys, the upper recessed and this and the ground storey clad in Portland stone. Corner entrance with stone urn set in stone-lined blind window above. Symmetrical composition to Panton Street with central emphasis given at first floor level by black-painted neo-Regency trellis-work which surrounds large floor to ceiling windows; metal balustrade in front of windows. Remaining first floor windows with stone surrounds and cornices. Casement windows. Top storey stone clad, with horizontal windows recessed between paired stone pilasters. Ground floor with large rectangular windows between scribed pilasters. A refined neo-Regency building by this important classical architect.
