WOOLPIT THE GREEN TL 96 SE 1/132 The Grange - - II House; core of C17/C18 with remodelling of c.1840. Gault brick with timber- framed core. Plaintiled roof with an axial chimney, the shaft rebuilt in gault brick; an external C19 chimney of gault brick to left. 2 storeys and attics. 3-cell lobby entrance plan. Small-pane sashes of c.1840, with flat arches of gauged brick. A 2-storey gabled C19 porch at lobby-entrance position: console brackets at the gable foot, and a 4-panelled door. A C19 open outer porch is timber framed with hipped roof; it has decorative fretted panels beneath the eaves. A timber-framed rear wing is of earlier origin than the main range.
