House. C16 and C18. Timber-framed with red Flemish bond, parapeted brick front. Gabled clay plain tile roof with 2 flat-roofed dormers. 2 storeys with attics. Front has one flush double-hung sash window with small panes under rubbed brick arch. Ground floor has one similar window and an early C19 doorcase with flat hood and simple Tuscan pilasters. Recessed C19 four-panel door. Single bay of C16 timber-framing with spine beams and soffit-tenoned floor joists. The SE wall shows jowled post with arch bracing exposed this side, on first floor. INTERIOR: the NW wall is part of an earlier c1500 timber-framed building. This has 2 formerly external wall braces between studs of 'Colchester bracing' type.
