FRAMSDEN - TM15NE 4/10019 Estate Cottages, nos 105 and 106

GV II

Pair of cottages, c1840, perhaps to the designs of Anthony Salvin, who was active at Helmingham Hall (qv) in c1841. Brick in Flemish bond with moulded brick stack to party wall. Pantile roofs with vergeboards, some ornamented, with slightly swept eaves. Single storeys with half dormers and outshut to rear. Outer ranges with four-centre arches to outer ranges, with single range to inside, flanking party wall. Picturesque style combining vernacular forms with those ofthe 'cottage orne' tradition. Cottages 97-110, spanning the boundary between Framsden and Helmingham, form a group.
