ELDERSFIELD CP - SO 73 SE 6/50 Tomb chest approximately 7 metres south of south- east buttress of tower of Church of St John GV II

Tomb chest. Early C18. Sandstone with limestone ends. Flat moulded top and scrolled ends: eastern one carved with shield of arms within cartouche. On the north side is an inscription flanked by carved foliage decoration: "In memory of Captain Richard Dyer Gun-maker Citizan and Free-man of London. He departed this life August the 20th 1722 Aged 71 Ys".
