SHIPDHAM CHURCH CLOSE TF 9507 (south side) 14/85 Spinky Den and the Cottage 30.5.60 [(formerly listed as Church Close Cottages (3 dwellings)] GV II
2 dwellings. Late Medieval, C16 and later. Rendered timber frame with thatched roofs. L plan with late Medieval block to street side and C16 addition to rear. 2 storeys. West facade has 2 sash windows with glazing bars and one small window with glazing bars to ground floor. At first floor one 3-light and one 2-light windows with metal casements. Off-centre doorway with a glazed and boarded gabled porch. Street facade with a single sash window with glazing bars in western bay: representing a stair- case hall. Rest of block 2-storeyed with a raised and fielded panelled door and 4 C19 2-light casement windows. C18 gable-end stack. 3 equal sized cells of street side pile thought to represent former almshouses.
At present the 2 properties are divided with the westernmost cell belonging to rear pile.
