TG 2208 NE NINHAM'S COURT (off Bethel Street) 15/586 Nos 6 & 9 & 10 (sic) 5.6.72. (formerly listed under Bethel Street) - II* House(s) later 4, now 2. C15 undercroft, C16(?), C17 with later altera- tions and C19, restoration. Painted flint rubble with brick dressings, part-rendered; pantile roof; brick chimneys. L - plan. 2 storeys and attic; 3-window range. C19 ribbed and studded door with 4-centred head in brick porch toright; 3 other C19 doors. Windows are mostly 2 or 3- light mullioned and transomed casements with leaded lights and some gale green glass. Early C18 sash window with thick glazing bars on ground floor of No. 9; traces of earlier window dressings on first floor. 3 large gables each with a casement window. Projecting wing to right No. 6 has 7 and 8 light ovolo mullioned windows on ground and first floor under tile hung gable with 3-light casement, its cill on 3 carved consoles. Elaborately carved bargeboards, probably C19. Similar 6 and 8-light windows on the left side of this wing. Undercroft beneath No. 6: Brick. Complex 3-bay L-shaped plan. Idiosyncratic cross-ribbing in the 2 north/south bays allowing for entrances and openings. Original entrance in the north-east corner of the south bay and side chamber on the west side. The east bay has diagonal ribs with additional cross-ribs. Interior of No. 10 has moulded ceiling beams and newel stair. Grade II* because of undercroft which forms part of an important group within the City Walls.
