ST3414 COURT BARTON 1939-1/6/15 (North side) 29/07/76 No.13 Court Barton Cottage and attached wall and railings (Formerly Listed as: COURT BARTON No.13 Court Barton Cottage)

House. C17, eaves raised and altered in C19. Limestone rubble with slate roof, brick stacks to left-of-centre and right gable end. L-shape plan; 2-unit, with C19 rear wing to the right. 2 storeys; 2-window range. First floor has two c1980 three-light casement windows across the eaves level. A similar window under a concrete lintel is below that to the right, and a hollow-moulded, mullioned 4-light window to the left of the C20 door, which has a flat stone porch on brackets. INTERIOR: altered except for an open fireplace with a large Moolham stone lintel backing onto central passage and axial beams with run-out chamfers to both rooms. C17 roof truss beneath the new roof has blackening to the inner faces. Evidence for a timber-framed partition to the left, and thus that the C17 house continued for another bay to the left. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: A late C19 brick retaining wall curved to the right, is attached to the south-west corner at ground-level. Widely-spaced railings on Ham Hill stone capping, flank a central gate of long/short railings; all have cast-iron spearhead tops.
