3/28 Stables and linking block attached to North-west end of Dallam Tower

G.V. II

Stables and linking block. Early C19 by G. Webster of Kendal, with later alterations. Scored stucco, sandstone dressings; graduated greenslate roof with lead ridge. 2 storeys. 5 windows each to linking block and stable, all sashes with glazing bars. Stable: 5 bays, 2:1:2, centre bay slightly projecting.

Central carriage arch with round head and rusticated voussoirs. 2 pairs of boarded doors to either side. Plinth; rusticated quoins, hipped roof to stable surmounted by clock tower with cupola and weathervane supported on 8 columns.
