995/19/10043 Monument to Hermoine Beatrice Eckstein in Christ Church churchyard

GV II

Graveyard monument. 1930 by Sir William Reid Dick to Hermione Beatrice Eckstein (1893-1945), who laid the foundation stone for the enlargement of Christ Church in 1935. The monument comprises a bronze standing figure of a young woman with outstretched arms in Ancient Greek dress on a stone plinth. The early date of the statue suggests either that this figure was selected as a memorial before her death or that a favourite piece of sculpture was used as a memorial afterwards. One of three Eckstein monuments in the churchyard.
