This Secondary Modern School at Kells in Whitehaven was designed by County Architect, John H Haughan, and was built by Laing using 1 1/4 million of the firm's Calsil bricks. Work on the site started in 1949 and the school was officially opened in 1951.
This image was catalogued as part of the Breaking New Ground Project in partnership with the John Laing Charitable Trust in 2019-20.
