Laing started work on Seascale Primary School in May 1950 after the population had increased following an influx of workers at the atomic energy station. The school was built to accommodate 320 children and its junior wing, for 120 children, opened in January 1951.
This image was catalogued as part of the Breaking New Ground Project in partnership with the John Laing Charitable Trust in 2019-20.
