The new grandstand at Brunton Park was built after the previous wooden structure was totally destroyed by fire on the night of 10th-11th March 1953. The new grandstand was 170ft long and had a seating capacity of 1200. It was designed without intermediate supporting posts, providing spectators with an unrestricted view of the football pitch.
