In 1947, after a seven year break, Laing had resurrected their 'Area Outings' for staff and their families, with trips taking place in May and June. Eight outings were arranged to take place in May and June 1955, the first two of which was held on 14th May, to Weston-Super-Mare and to Bognor Regis. This outing was for Laing employees from the Southern England region, including Burghfield, Calcot Row, Crawley, Stevenage, Reading, Welwyn and Windsor.
