Description

A sugar factory was built in Cantley in 1912. Work began in September 1962 on an elevator tower and four silos at Cantley Sugar Factory for the British Sugar Corporation. The contract was completed by January 1964. A portion of the conveyor bridge which surmounted the silos was taken up with the roof structures of each silo as it was constructed, shown on the lower right of this photograph.

This image was catalogued as part of the Breaking New Ground Project in partnership with the John Laing Charitable Trust in 2019-20.
