The entry in the negative register reads 'Opening of 5000th dwelling, Swindon'. On the day this photo was taken, maisonette No.23 was ceremonially opened by W K Laing and the Mayor of Swindon. A reception was also held to mark the completion of the first phase of the Easiform maisonette contract at Twyford Close. Easiform was a method of in situ pre-cast concrete construction which John Laing and Son Ltd developed from 1919 onwards.
